Foshan Polytechinc was officially established in June 2000. It is a full-time public general higher vocational and technical college which is located in the hinterland of Sanshui National Industrial Park. The total area of the campus is 956 acres, the construction area is 293,000 square meters, and the total government investment is 1.46 billion yuan. It has 7 sub colleges, namely, School of Intelligent Manufacturing; School of Electronic Information; School of Automotive Engineering; School of New Energy and Environmental Protection; School of Economics and Management; School of Culture Tourism and Innovation; School of Marxism.

Foshan Polytechnic is now a first-class and a Demonstrative Higher Vocational College in Guangdong Province, headquarter unit of Foshan Vocational and Technical Education Base, Chairman unit of the College-Enterprise Cooperation Alliance of Foshan Vocational Education and the Cooperative Education Alliance of College-Enterprise, Leading unit of Foshan Vocational Education Association.

Foshan Polytechinc was named one of China's national training bases for high quality technical workers in 2020, and was qualified as China's national demonstrative unit for Vocational Education Alliances in 2021. In 2022, Foshan Polytechnic was selected as one of the planned construction unit of provincial high-level higher vocational colleges.
